On this weeks episode I chat with Nitika Balaram, family lawyer at the Women's Legal Service Queensland. She gives us some insight into the incredibly important work that she and her colleagues do.
This week I caught up with my good friend and colleague, Nitika Balaram, a family lawyer with the Women’s Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ). I have known Nitika for a number of years now and have watched her career develop and grow into being a true reflection for everything she believes in. She has a true sense of commitment towards assisting vulnerable and disadvantaged women in the community and the passion she brings to her work shines through in this interview.
In this podcast we talk about the type of work she does, the work of the WLSQ and how the pilot Domestic Violence Court at Southport has developed into a place that is incredibly mindful of the needs and concerns that victims of domestic violence often have.
The Women’s Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ) is a Community Legal Centre and relies heavily on the support and fundraising and so many individuals and organisations that believe in the incredibly important work they do for women right across Queensland.
Nitika and I also talk about WLSQ’s biggest event of the year, The Designer Rummage Sale! Guess what? It's this weekend! This incredible fund-raising event will have a wide range of donated designer clothes all for $5! You get to walk away with a bargain whilst knowing that your $$ are rising funds for domestic violence prevention. So if you're in Brisbane this weekend, head on down on Saturday 26 October 2019 to the Princess Theatre, 8 Annerley Road, Woollongabba. Don’t miss it! Here's the link:
